yup. had they done expansions, and had everyone start off in pre...game would be perfect. but having to restart from an island, it just feels disconnected. expansions > chapters. they also should not have introduced new classes with the releases.

GW lost sight of its image (skill>time) a long time ago, and the developers not responding fast enough to a newly discovered exploit always made conditions worse.

I love GW, my favourite part is Factions ^^ It's so charming.
Despite my addiction to World Of Warcraft I still think GW:F is better. PvP (factions battles) there rocks!

Many of you are just fooling yourselves as I know if EQ or DAOC or Star Wars Galaxies or WOW or any of the other GREAT mmorpgs were FREE NO MONTHLY fee you would flock to them like rats to a sewer. You mostly play this because it has no monthly fee and you give yourselves delusions that it's the greatest mmo to ever come about. lol

It's merely a time consumer game that has its fun points but it's hardly the greatest thing since sliced bread. Everything becomes repetitive fast and there are no major events like in an EQ or a WOW where it takes large groups to take on a BOSS. Hell I can solo most bosses in this game. If your idea is to be able to do that then you must like romper room? And that's another thing this game has turned from group oriented in to solo build from skill>time to time=skill and wealth. You watch the population disappear when they nerf SF. Plus the gnawing and gnashing of teeth on this forum (which I can't wait to read). )

So WAKE-UP and stop being delusioned.

Since I started GW, Ive experimented a lot of other MMOs...and all of them get boring sooner or later because of the grind factor. Most of time, 2 weeks is the maximum I can endure..

In other hand, Im playing GW for over 50 months. The flexibilty to play the way I want to is what keeps me coming back..

GW was, is and it will always be unique. It has a place most high in the altar of my gaming heart. I will stop playing only when the servers are shut down.

I've played a lot of different MMOs and I was introduced to GW earlier this year by a friend. I'm still having a blast and I LOVE this game. Sure, there are some things that might be vexing, but overall it's refreshing compared to so many other MMOs. By far the best one I've played.

I think I'm lucky that I got to play it after all the expansions were released so I can do whatever I want, but I've played through all of them so far and they're all really fun. I enjoy the characters and story, so it's nice to see an MMO that doesn't skimp on the story and quests for once. I even like pvp in this game and normally I loathe it.

And I think one reason for its succress was stepping away from traditional mmo's and the grind for levels and gear. Being free also helped too :P
Some of the MMOs I've played barely had any updates what so ever, so I'm pretty impressed with what they do for GW. Even if it isn't as popular as it used to be, it's nice to see they still try. I totally agree about the grind and that's one of the main reasons I enjoy this game.

Whatever floats your boat, but what you find to be amazing may not be the same for others. For example... I didn't like how you needed tons upon tons of people in WoW to take on a boss. However, you do and that's fine, but I don't think you should call everyone delusional simply because you don't agree with what they think is fun. It's all subjective.

I played WoW for a year and did everything. The largest part of that game was grind and gear. Great skill? Know all the tactics? Green items? Kick. The game got repetitive fast. Especially the quests.

"Kill 10 pigs! Well done! Now kill 10 bandits! Great! Now kill 200 rats to find 10 tails! Yes, yes, they all have tails but that one has a bit of fluff on it. Don't want that one. Find me another!"

I moved on to better games that genuinely took skill.

Do you have any idea how bad the game would be if it was still stuck in Prophecies?

(Disregarding your nostalgia, of course).

I would certainly have played and maybe liked some of the other games if they were free to play, but that's because I love variety so for me a monthy fee would be terrible.
Imagine having 6 games on the go all with monthly fees to pay.
It may be a good idea for the games company but I for one am not going to encourage them buy buying any.

GW isn't by any stretch of the imagination perfect but its a lot better than many others, I like to think that GW2 will be even better.

We have successfully play tested this incarnation and GW2 will be the better for it.

Best MMO I've ever played. I tried taking a break and playing some other ones. That just made me realize how much better GW was lol. Titles have made the game much more enjoyable.

I don't play other games anymore.

I never was a multi-player or MMO person. Guild Wars was somehow different.

I completely agree. I've left GW to try WoW, Aion, LOTRO, and numerous other MMOs, but I keep coming back. There is something about GW that is just addictive.

Guild Wars nailed something, because no other free to play game is NEARLY as good. There is not one that is nearly as good. And other Pay to play mmo's that have lost to WoW you realize, once you play, have just as small a playerbase as Guild Wars.

I love GW, and always will.

My thoughts exactly. Our PvP has almost ALWAYS been superior to other games out there. For this game to revolve around nearly 100% skill choice/use, they've managed to do a fantastic job with what.. 3000+ skills? Beats the freaking crap out of EQ, Lineage, Conan (ha), Warhammer (ha again), WoW (is that even PvP?), and Aion (... half of the classes can't even partake in PvP).

I agree wholeheartedly, but just think.. GW's wasn't even really supposed to be a big game.. it was more of a test. In my opinion, while I totally agree with you, the game managed to be WAY bigger than initially planned

So first off.. No?

I played WoW and EQ both for about 2 years each, and you couldn't pay ME to go back to them.

WoW is a total snoozefest where absolutely the ONLY thing that matters is your gear. Have great gear? You're in. To get that gear? Spend 5 months playing one area. The community for that game is also, in my opinion, one of the worst gaming communities of all time.

Also, one of the natural draws to this game IS that it's free to play, but to say that's it's only draw? I think we just have a WoW fanboy here. This game has tons of charisma, balance, fast action (like RA, AB, Sealed, Dungeons) and the choice of playing alone, or with friends/strangers.

GW's is so unique that it took years for most gaming communities to even recognize it as an MMO, simply because it wasn't cut and paste from EQ, WoW, Baldur's and so on.

Everyone's entitled to their own opinions, but to say we're delusional? I think you should get back on your Warlock and kill some boars

I used to play this game avidly a few years back, but now I don't even bother logging on anymore. I haven't played anything for several months, and when I do log on (usually just to make sure everything's still there or to check out an event), I don't even have the drive to stay on the game for more than about five minutes.

I haven't even finished Nightfall (still on the Gates, lol) or Eye of the North yet, but I can't get myself to care. I loved this game while it lasted, but now I just find it really really stale and lifeless--dead, like a twisted reflection of the lack of love this game gets from the devs. There's nothing really worth playing for anymore. I couldn't give two flicks of a cat's whiskers about the Hall of Monuments or Z-coins or Nick or the Menagerie or whatever new piece of grind they put out, and playing within the hostile mindsets of most PvPers isn't really my cup of tea (and I blow ). So I don't bother.

Default Why Guild Wars is no more fun

On the fact that guild Wars died is nothing to do.
But important is the reason.

The players killed the game. Players like gamers without reallife that farm all the day, little kids(nothing against kids but against them they behave like 9)
and typical PVP-Player that just want to win fast and then again.

I don' understand how last can enjoy the game.

I was in costumebrawl today.
Blue Group.
After one min they had 5 kills we one or two.

...has resigned.
"
"
"

Annoying enough.
But after they wanted me to resign I said no.

[I bought the game to have much fun with friends.
What use can I have of 20 stacks ectos if I just want to make missions quests or vanq with my friends.]

Then:
Have fun loosing noob.
You RED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GOing PvE nub.
...starts dancing.
Is that a joke?!!

So Im alone fighting on the field. Rest is standing around and falling.
Ten kills later I got reported for leeching.

Could anyone tell me how the staff could made the game more fun if this always happens.
They would not make much money if they bann all these players.

They did such a great job making Guild Wars. Its a absolutly cool game that makes much fun.
The flaw of GW is the same flaw that a dictatership has.
It needs humans and they are not perfect. They are dumb, want power and can be mean.

At the beginning of GW you logged in and asked lokking for group (quest...) and you found some ppl. in minutes. You made the quest or mission and it was great fun to play and chat. And if you made a mistake you died and started a new try.
Then it came up that you had to play male chars bcause everyone wanted CS with you. (Think the reason are the boobs of GW chars the are independant from tzhe bodys^^).

Now the time has come that you are new and dont understand anything in these HB,cry,SF,doa - conversations.
And most in use are the words "resign" and "nub".

The thing is that there are ppl that understand such things that see how perfect GW is. But most of the players dont see such things like these fantastic build system. They just want to farm and show there titles.
And that are the players that pay for new chests and PvP-skills.

So that makes them more important then us players who want to have fun with other people.
I can imagin that the creators wanted to have the first version of the game. Something new and great.
Thats like if you do everything for your child to become a good person and then it becomes a nazi. Maby thats a hard one but I feel it this way with GW.
Everything is getting the wrong way and you cant do anything.

I realized this too. Every other MMO is just recycled grind shit. And the niche MMO's never really take off.

@ Hexxchen, that's not the reason the game died, since you get that from people in every game (albeit more in this one without a sub). Personally I think it was down to a combination of the game getting old, and then anet abandoning support to work on GW2. But it's still the best around atm - unless you like cartoon graphics and/or collect/kill quests, repeated 500 times to reach max level to then enjoy zerg pvp.

I enjoy it a lot. I like the gameplay, the skill system, the fact that you can only have eight skills on your bar at any one time. There's also a great deal of fantastic scenery going for it, and I found it easy to get used to playing when I first started. (Skill, of course, was an entirely different matter.)

That being said, of course I've finished a lot of content 'til I'm sick of it, so I went to try D&D Online when it became free to play. I like the people I meet there, and it's nice to get into new content and realise that there are plenty of new players who are exploring and trying out a game for the first time... and thus aren't going to scream and throw a huge fit if something goes wrong. However, I'm aware that I met people like these when I first started playing GW, so that's something that just goes with being new. When I do play it, I miss a lot of things in GW that I didn't really think about when I played it. I miss the protection line a great deal. I miss the capped gear where you don't have to worry about being underequipped too much, because it's readily available if you need it. I miss being able to roll a pure PvP character, kitting them up, and then just jumping into AB for the heck of it.

I try not to compare, but some of the things in GW are pretty much irreplaceable to me, especially the 8-skill system, which is one of the things I absolutely loved about the game.

People are always saying guild wars is dead but every time i log on theres hundreds of people playing

Whether its pve where people are doing tough vanquishes/dungeons in eotn for rep or doing fow and underworld clears for shards and globs
or pvp where you have random arenas, aliance battles, jade quarry and the new spangled codex arena

All are packed with people at all times

I love this game its the best mmo ive played by a long way
